Join Us Me for the Town’s 46th Birthday Party and Lightkeeper Celebration

Nags Head turns 46 on Thursday. The Town is throwing a shingdig at Town Hall. It starts around 11 am. and will feature the presentation of the annual Lightkeeper award and awards for residential architecture. The highlight of the ceremony promises to be a major speech by your favorite blogger (no not Monty over at OBR or Paula -- ME!!). I was asked to say a few words about Nags Head's history on this auspicious occasion and I accepted. Actually the conversation went something like this:
Town: Bob, do you believe in free speech?
Bob: Of course I do, I value all our civil liberties very highly (except phony property rights claims under the takings clause which are bogus on their face.)
Town: Good we want you to give one (a free speech that is)
Bob: Oh

Anyway, I have been doing some research and hope to reveal some basic truths about the town and the challenges it has faced over the years. I will also unveil my proposed budget for Nags Head. I hope you will come on out and have some hot dogs on me (and the other Nags Head taxpayers). See you there

Congratulations! They still love you in Nags Head. I think you should podcast your speech for all of us that can't make it to the celebration.

IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR ANNA SADLER SAY 'I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE VOTERS. WE NEED TO PUT SAND ON THE BEACH.' MAYBE NAGS HEAD WILL GET BEACH NOURISHMENT? THEY ARE STILL GOING AHEAD WITH OBTAINING PERMITS.

Thanks Ronnie and Paula. I may use some of the material in a posting. I found a really interesting document. Paula, bring Sammy and the Princesses (princessi (?))
Barry email me at BOBXNC at gmail.com and I will try to give you an update. I would like to limit my public discussion. I am not sure it is helpful. People know what I think about the issue.

Well, we guess that Anna Sadler doesn't remember what happened to the other elected official who said (in effect)..."...if they vote the sand tax out, they can't DODGE A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE..."
...actually, the best way to settle the matter once and for all...(which should have been done by the previous two referendums)..may be to let the oceanfront property owners in South Nags Head pay to put sand on their beaches...as much as they can afford....and then, let them watch it wash away...meanwhile, we say DO IT...if you will be willing to tie Anna Sadler to the piling of the eastern-most cottage on the beach.

Will the speech be on the local access channel? I read in TV Guide that you, Brant Murray, and Webb Fuller have signed a syndication deal with the ION cable network whereby they will rebroadcast re-runs of Nags Head Commissioner meetings. How much are you guys getting for the royalties? Will KDH Commissioners follow suit?

Happy birthday Nags Head, my former home. Go ahead, treat yourself to a nip and a tuck or two around the gills -- or just a couple million cubic yards of sand.

@Kevin, Yes we need to be gussied up a bit. That was part of my talk today, kinda.
@OW, have at it.
Barry, OW's comment is why I don't like to discuss beach nourishment unless I suspend the rules. It just seems to get to silly.
@Monticello, You had to be there to gain wisdom, thanks to Ronnie at Outer Banks Real Estate for taking time out to stop by. My share of the residuals from the syndication of our meetings won't pay for beach nourishment, it won't even pay for my nourishment. Wish it would!!
Thanks to all for stopping by.

OW - All of your personalities are consistently obnoxious.

Bob - Great job today. You ought to post some of those facts you found. Hope the syndication deal works out.

Wellll, Ronnieee,
Has obxbob suspended his rule of civil order, or do you just have special privileges to say what you want?
We check in on your blog regularly and while you do a good job for those interested in real estate investments, your own style of "obnoxiousness" comes through on other people's blogs. We're sure you've seen The Christmas Story. We have you pictured like the little short guy who runs around with the bullies and edges them on. You know, the little guy who turns and runs when Ralphy decides its time to beat the sH$$ out of the bully. We hope business gets better for you, Ronnie. Really.

OW,

I don't think what I said about your comment was that far off the mark. Suggesting to tie Anna to a piling was obnoxious and I believe most reasonable people would agree. Whether you are one person with many pen names (my pick) or multiple people under one email address (odd), your comments on my blog and others are usually unacceptable.

I don't like bullies - so chances are you and I won't become best friends.

We suggest you not take a poll on how many people in Nags Head would like to tie Madam Sadler to a cottage piling on high tide; otherwise, Ronneeee you just might find there are a lot of "obnoxious people" on the Outer Banks.
As to being "best friends", you just might be right. You see, although we come to the Outer Banks fairly often, we can't afford to live there and don't have any real estate investments.
By the way, how's business these days?

OW,
If Anna Sadler chooses to run for re-election, the voters of Nags Head will decide if she has done a good job. As for obnoxious people, every town has some. I am sure your town has it's share.
